Dr Oscar Tapera is a dedicated public health research, monitoring and evaluation expert with experience gained in Southern Africa (Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa, eSwatini, Namibia and Botswana) and in the UK.
He has interests in public health research (HIV/AIDS, malaria, cervical cancer, child and maternal health, COVID-19), health policy, health systems strengthening, social determinants of health, digital health and programme/impact evaluation of health interventions particularly in developing countries. He has also published several articles in peer reviewed journals.
He has participated in several research and programme evaluation studies funded by UNICEF, EU, DFID, USAID, PEPFAR, PMI & DFID in different capacities. Oscar has a PhD in Health Systems from the University of Pretoria. He also holds two Masters Degrees: MSc in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from Midlands State University and MSc in Development Studies from Women’s University in Africa. His first degree is a BSc (Honours) in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Zimbabwe’s College of Health Sciences.
